For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 (NIV)
During our Good Friday Tenebrae service, only seven candles were lit inside the sanctuary and the seven sayings passages of Jesus Christ on the cross were read.
"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
"To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."
"Woman, behold, thy son! Behold, thy mother!"
"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
"I thirst."
"It is finished."
"Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit."
The only candle not blown out left the sanctuary.
We came out of the church in silence.
It was so solemn.
Then we saw this beautiful rainbow, a double rainbow and the sun setting down, all taken in one moment.
What an Amazing sight!
The rainbow is a sacred symbol of God’s covenant.
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
